Dryden Elementary Musical H.M.S. Pinafore

The fourth and fifth Grade chorus members of the Dryden Elementary School Chorus Present: Their own splendid adaptation of the H.M.S. Pinafore that is set in Great Britain in the 1890's. Queen Victoria is reigning, hence "Her Majesty's Ship Pinafore." England is still deeply rooted in the idea that a person is either a noblemen or a peasant. Nobility never mixes with peasantry and marriage between the ranks in NOT heard of. So when the daughter of the captain of the Pinafore - a young lady of higher class - falls in love with the lowly sailor, trouble brews. Add to that the mixing up of 2 babies many years ago in the care of a nurse Buttercup and you have the breakdown of the system of separation of classes. This comic satire is full of double entendres and one- liners, and is supported by the wonderful music of Gilbert and Sullivan.

Performances will be Tuesday June 3rd at 9:30am / June 5th and 6th at 7:00 PM at the Dryden High School Auditorium on Route 38.

The Show is FREE to all, but supported by donations at the door and through various civic organizations. To contribute a donation Make checks payable to the "4th and 5th Grade chorus" C/O Cheryl Davis Dryden Elementary School Dryden NY 13053
